Attribues of Connections and their values |
optimize the use of bamboo as a construction material by observing the following rules: |

|
|
1. Whole bamboo culms should be limited to reinforcing distribution only. |

2. All reinforcements should consist of half-culms with the nodes exposed upwards to increase bond strength. |

4. The dried half-culm bamboos should be moisture sealed and treated for bond by immersing both ends up to a depth of 250 mm in an adhesive. Subsequently, both ends may be lightly sprinkled with coarse clean sand and the excess material removed. Polyester resins are cheaper and equally effective as epoxics for adhesion. |

mix of linseed oil and turpentine). For reinforcing distribution whole culms can be immersed in the sealant without treating the ends. Palm trees occur in varying forms and densities throughout the hot, humid regions and are commonly used as food and to make mats, boats, and houses. The trunks of palm trees are often used for the construction of the basic framework of a house or as roof beams. Palm frond stems are ideal material where high temperatures and humidity make air movement vital. The stems of palm fronds can be used for non-structural panels curtain walls, screens, and as a base for plastering. |
